RETURN ON INVESTMENT

The following calculations are an estimate and it's important to note that many factors can impact the ROI. We have based these calculations on the average operating costs of our existing Landpod certified sites.

The 40% overhead deduction includes; Operation Costs, Cleaning Costs, Admin, Utilities & Setup Fees.

Landpods: A minimal investment for a great return

So you’re set on the idea of a Landpod but wondering how the maths is going to work? What kind of return on your investment can you expect when investing in Landpods for your glamping business?

Well of course, there are a number of fixed costs to consider when setting up a glamping in addition to variable costs such as occupancy rates, overnight prices, staffing and cleaning etc.

But if we look at the Landpods themselves, taking the example of our best selling Woodland Lodge Landpod (at £12,000*), you might reasonably expect to let this unit out at an average rate per night of £65 during low season and £100 per night during the high season.

Let’s calculate the glamping season to be 8 out of 12 available months in the year and allow for 40% occupancy in the low season and 70% occupancy during the high season.

All this gives you an annual turnover of £14,160 per Landpod per annum. Which means that you’ve more than covered the cost of your Landpod within the first twelve months of purchase, leaving the second year to turn even higher levels of profit.

Glamping set to increase in popularity

Glamping accommodation providers Canopy & Stars have seen an exponential increase in the glamping and outdoor holiday market over the past decade. And it seems that it’s the UK who are leading the way.

Canopy & Stars report that “While domestic holidays may have received the boost of the pandemic’s restrictions, the increased interest in glamping that ensued is not temporary. Wider consumer concern about the climate crisis, a focus on natural wellness, the rise of Instagram and an experience economy that shows no sign of waning mean that glamping is, and will continue to be, big business.”

Grand View Research reported that the global glamping market size was estimated at USD 3.15 billion in 2023 and is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.7% from 2024 to 2030.

So if you are interested in setting up your own glamping business, it would seem that there is no time like the present.

Why Landpods make the perfect glamping accommodation

The type of glamping accommodation you provide with any new glamping initiative can make a real difference to your bottom line.

Canopy & Stars reported seeing “a longer booking season, with stays for September and October up 42% against 2019” which means that kitting out your site with accommodation that can withstand all weathers is a must.

Landpods are specifically designed to withstand everything that the UK climate can throw at them. From long hot summers where you can open up the roof to gaze at the stars, to torrential downpours in which you need to feel confident that your pod won’t leak, Landpods offer it all.

And their green credentials stack up too. Not only that, Landpods can be sited without the need for expensive foundations and better still, they can be easily moved should you wish to reconfigure your site.

Landpod: A good return on investment?

With the cost of living set to remain high and fewer people able to afford to travel overseas for a holiday, the rise in popularity of staycations has meant that more of us are considering glamping as our next break away.

Which is encouraging news if you are looking to invest in your own glamp site.

So what are the costs of kitting out your glamping business with Landpods? And how soon can you expect to see a return on your investment?
